About Us

WHO WE ARE

Connection Credit Union (CCU) was founded in 1958 as the City of Bremerton Employees Credit Union. There were 32 original members, who invested $5 each, so the original assets totaled $160.00 at its inception.

For nearly 50 years, through 7 moves (Bremerton, Port Orchard, and Silverdale), 2 names changes, membership growth of over 10,000% and assets now totaling over $20,000,000.00, our credit union has continued to offer products and services to meet the changing needs of our membership.

In light of member requests, field of membership growth and name issues, in 2005 the Board of Directors determined that the name Kitsap County Public Employees Credit Union no longer reflected the full scope and diversity of our membership.  On July 1, 2006 the credit union officially became Connection Credit Union.

On September 25, 2006, the main office in Silverdale opened for business in our own building on 10200 Silverdale Way NW - the first building we have ever owned.

We are looking forward to the future with resolve to continue to enhance products and services, value our loyal members and educate our field of membership about the credit union difference and our "people helping people" philosophy.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The "People Helping People" philosophy
we put into action is what sets credit unions apart
from all others in the financial service world.

Children's Miracle Network
Washington Credit Unions support the CMN and call our campaign "Credit Unions for Kids".  We raise money for CUFK by collecting donations from the used books in the lobby of each branch and by selling Kitsap Card Books.

Shred Day
Once a year in April (Saturday after tax day) we provide the free service of a shred truck onsite at our main branch so the community can safely discard sensitive documents and old paperwork.  All we ask in return is that people bring a donation for the local food banks of personal care and/or home care items.

Relay for Life
Our staff participates in the local Relay for Life every June. We collect contributions from members, friends and family for the American Cancer Society and it's cancer research . The relay goes from noon to noon on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month.   We have at least one representative from our team on the track for the entire 24 hours in memory of cancer victims and in honor of survivors.

College Scholarships
We offer a limited number of scholarships for qualified members between the ages of 17 and 23.

United Way Day of Caring
Members of our staff volunteer to participate in our area's annual UWDC.

Canned Food Drive
October is the month for our annual "People Helping People Canned Food Drive".  We collect non-perishable food at each of our branches and donate the proceeds to three of our area food banks.

Christmas Angels
Through Kitsap Community Resources, staff and members of the credit union, participate in providing Christmas gifts for children in our community who may not otherwise have presents for Christmas.

Raffle Baskets
Our staff put together several baskets each year and raffles them off, giving the proceeds to Harrison Medical Center for their specific fundraising effort for the year.

The success of the ongoing fundraising campaigns is a testament to the deeply held belief that all credit unions share - the belief that through social responsibility, we can and will make our communities better places to live.

NEWSLETTERS

Your staff and Board of Directors communicate with you in many ways; a newsletter mailed to members twice a year is one of those ways.  For your convenience, you can also download either of the last two Newsletters.
